An introduction to SDML - Bruce Edmonds

Section 3 - Agents and some user facilities

In yesterday's session we mentioned that the model was an agent (of type ModelAgent). The model was a sub-agent of universe (which was of type UniversalAgent). We did this in order to utilise SDML time levels. However, SDML agents have far more properties and are used for far more than this. In the first half of this session we are going to create a model similar to the yesterday's but utilising the power of SDML agents. In this model the Producers and Consumer will be agents. Although agents have some cost in terms of the baggage necessary to set them up, overall they greatly simplify the task of modelling.

3.1 - Setting up agents
3.2 - Time levels and the container hierarchy
3.3 - Container constraints
3.4 - Constructing a hierarchy of composite agents
3.5 - Using at to assert to other agent's databases
3.6 - The self symbol
3.7 - Some longer rule examples
3.8 - Suggestions to try:
3.9 - The operations list
3.10 - Dependency graphs
3.11 - Symbol search
