    Hiya,

    Yes the line is supposed to be the surface of the liquid. Yet again, I saw
    this on a TV science programme a few years ago, so I don't have any specific
    references.

    As to other male/female differences, I did put a link in a recent post to a
    recent UK newspaper article about research which suggests girls have better
    language skills at a very early age. Here's the link again, and it gives
    the British-based researcher's names.
