Actually I find these funny examples quite illuminating. eIe can imagine a
future world language in which there are two forms of the question why, the
other being indeed <wheie> and coming to designate a question relating to
emotions or sensations. on the other hand these examples are exactly what I
meant by mutations, variations and diversifications arising in culture. A
joke can be a great memetic replicator.
