Section 1 - Clauses, Types and Rules
1.1 Introduction
In the first section of the tutorial we will introduce the basic mechanisms of SDML. This involves rules evaluating and asserting clauses. Some of these clauses will involve references to names automatically generated during a simulation called objects. The main fact about how you interact with SDML is that windows are divided between those displaying information about the types and those about the instances of the types. Work is done by and in the instances so you see the effects in the instance browsers. Properties of the instances are collected in the types so that programming is done in the type browsers.
In this section we will be building up a simple one-shot model of a market. It will have producers and consumers but only one kind of product being traded. The consumers will be given varying amounts of money and requirements for the product and will randomly try a limited number of producers to find a good price. Producers are given a cost structure and try to base their price on this. Some results of this are collected.
