    But the term "spam" for the Internet phenomenon was inspired by the
    Python sketch, even so, I believe. If you doubt it, it should be
    easily checked.

    No it's not. Do a web search on the Mailing Preference Service.
    And there's a telephonic equivalent, similarly named.
