This very theory of "neural competition" was told to me several years
ago when discussing memetic theory with Dr. Calvin and he had concluded
that meme constructs were competitive with other sources
(neurotransmitters in this instance) in the nervous system. I was
speaking to him at the time about some ideas I had about memes, their
stimulation of neurotransmitters, and their distinction, in situ, "in
the mind" as compared with the "seed or husk" represented by meme
symbology in communication. I only wised that I could have taken more
of his time discussing those things through E-mail.
