Ethical Principles of Norm
Watch
"Norm Watch" is a
case study of incidents how, where and why social norms are
broken in Second Life
. More information about the study can be found at: http://cfpm.org/sl/normwatch.html
We aim to uphold the highest ethical standards in the conduct of the
Norm Watch study. In particular:
- Nothing will be hidden from you or covert, there is no hidden
motive or purpose for the study other than which is explained on the
Norm Watch web page
- Your full informed consent (as your avatar) is necessary for any
use of the information provided us via the web page
- Your anonymity (your SL name) will be preserved in any subsequent
processing, reports, paper, release of data etc.
- We will keep you informed of all uses of the data thereby
obtained (e.g papers published) via these web pages - also (optionally)
- All results of the research will be freely available to the
public.
- We will not exploit the the data gained for financial gain.
- We will not use the information to pass on to any authority or
for any use other than research into social norms.
