Wade, I once had the joy of reading every single Journal of the American
Political Science Association, circa 1945 -- 1970.
Around 1946, there was a longish article that proposed a new mathematical
algebra for political science: its worthy goal was to bring some precision
to political science discussions and research. The author provided many
example of equations that would illuminate the dynamics of international
relations, national power, conflict, etc. There was not a single mention or
use of this approach in any subsequent Journal. The proffered meme was DOA.
But the hope is still there, could it be done right. Perhaps you can explore
that vision of yours some more, here?
Meanwhile, I am working on modeling the dynamics of multi-party conflict and
think I have a pretty nifty approach. I hope to put it up on Stella, the
systems dynamics program and see how it works.
