    I think you'll find this is rooted in British culture too. I think you'll
    find Derek is more than aware of it also.

    There's room for humour on the list, but it's also supposed to be serious,
    and certainly there's plently of people seriously (i.e. professionally)
    interested in the subjects being discussed as much as there are interested
    lay people.
