The history between Brits and Irish is incredibly long, and for the
most part bloody. Most of the recent troubles, taking the long historical
view, find their origins in the Battle of the Boyne (which is mostly what is
celebrated by all those Orange order marches).
The specifics are much more to do with the horrors of the struggle
for Irish independence and partition in the 1920s, about which I don't know
a great deal.
<And what of the stories of people such as Gerry Conlon? All I'm

That movie had a fair deal of dramatic licence in it, I don't
believe they were in jail together for example, or not for long anyway, but
few save the die hard people who put them in jail believe that the 'Guilford
Four' belonged in jail.
