I can only speak personally, of course, but, while there is a general
sense of 'getting on with things' there is also a very palpable dread and
unease. The closing of Logan has a chilling effect upon the immediate
area- it is much quieter than it normally is. This is an unsettling
quiet. Many local groups are having vigils and gatherings. I have not
seen knee-jerk anti-islamic actions, but, in some neighborhoods, I'm sure
it would be unwise to wear a turban- racism is a source of neighborhood
pride here, now as before.
I know many who are not sleeping at night- scenarios are filling their
heads. For this reason, I myself have tried to get into the heads of the
hijackers- it is a resort against getting into the heads of the victims,
but, their eyes also open for me.
