            Hi Wade,

    >>I don't know if they showed these images in
    >>the US, to see Palestinians cheering the news of the attack

<We were not kept from this.>

The reason I said this was because it has been suggested over here
that US network news has been, or was initially, very circumspect over the
scale of the tragedy in some regards (e.g. ABC concentrating on the human
interest angle of the woman and child successfully looking for the father).
I'm not suggesting any kind of censorship, only a kind of journalistic
disbelief (also evident from the US based British journalists- one BBC
economics correspondent who was in the basement of one of the towers when it
was first hit and later got out, has been permanently on the BBC's coverage,
looking to me absolutely shell shocked, and needing some care, and not to be
permanently in front of the camera which is where he's been).

It's not a subject for now, but of course my professional interest
inclines me to increasingly focus on the media angle. Behind the ambulances
are the journalists, politicians, and not far behind are media academics.

One chilling thing that stands out straight away is the
consideration of where else in the world would one be certain of ending up
with the terrorist act being filmed from about a dozen different angles?
Could this have been in the terrorists' plans beyond the symbolism of the
WTC, were they thinking, in a sense, of being certain of generating good
    pictures and extensive coverage?

How's the feeling in Boston, Wade? Are people thinking about a
national grief, or are thoughts more introspective in terms of it being
Boston's airport that two of the planes left from?

            Vincent
