I understand that they are myths; that is, that they possess no real
referents, and as myths I do not disparage them; I do, however,
disparage the erroneous proffering of myths as truths. Myths may
not possess truths, since they are metaphorical, and even then,
not all metaphors point to truths, and some metaphors are
positively malevolent and lead their followers down the primrose
path to pernicious confusions and misunderstandings.
