    Hi lawrence

I will have to go into the history of my small state.

I come a small but very lush and green state(Kerala( situated at the
southern tip of India. This state was well known throughout the ancient
world even before the rise of Greek and Roman conquests. The Phoenician
and arab (before they embraced Islam) traders pioneered trade with Kerala
and even Chinese traders are documented to have come to kerala and left
their remnant in the life and culture of Kerala in the form of
architectural influence to techniques in fishing(chines fishing nets of
Cochin) to ceramic tiles. Even King Solomons ships are known to have come
to Muziris for trade. The main produce of Kerala known as the Malabar
coast was the tropical spices like pepper cardamom, cloves cinnamon etc
which was much sought after throughout the world. The quest for the same
spices and the dream of huge profits from spice trade spurred later
exploration by westerners in the 15th century leading to Columbus`
discovery of America and Vasco de Gamas discovery of the sea route to
India rounding the cape of Good Hope (the rest of the colonial period is
history) Ports of Kerala coast are mentioned in ancient Greek and Roman
    writings.
Jews have been living in Kerala before known history some say from
Solomons times but atleast since the Palestine campaigne of Nebuchad
    Nasser .
So it was but natural that when Christs apostles went around the
world looking for extant jewish settlements they did not forget the little
Kerala . St Thomas arrived at Kodungallur (famous as Muziris in ancient
Greco Roman writings)in AD 52. Although he probably did not convert any
Jews but he did succeed in converting many native people of Kerala (known
as Malayalis from their language malayalam) to Christianity. Incdentaly St
thomas was murdered by a Hindu priest in South India.
Subsequently missionaries also came from Syria and later along with the
Portugese traders. presently Christians consttute roughly 22% of the
population of Kerala (Muslims who trace their origins to Arab traders from
Oman and other gulf states constitute another 22%)
Vasco de Gama died and was initially bried in cochin (Kochi)

I am a Christian and a catholic (non practising really)
i was christianed `Lawrence Peter` It was my grandfathers prerogative to
name me by his own name Lazar but he wanted to name me Lawrence due to his
reverence for St Lawrence for his own reasons.
I grew up in a secular residential public school and am quiete free from
    all baggage.

My state Kerala has been on the ascendant in terms of tourist
interest and got rave reviews in National Geographic Traveller

    main attractions
1 classical dance and culture (most diverse classical dance forms in
    such a small area)
          2 back water cruise
          3 warm and sunny beaches
4 ayurveda and traditional health remedies.
