Here's an historical spin: in the 17th century, Newton explained the
behavior of light in terms of particles. Although his view was contested by
many psysicists throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, it was in 1887 that
Heinrich Hertz proved that light behaves as a wave. Immediately Einstein
overturned Hertz' theory proving that light indeed behaves like a particle.
BUT, in 1929 Louis de Broglie was awarded a Nobel for proving the
particle/wave duality.
