Are you sure you're not thinking of cube jellies (cubozoans or cubomedusae)
or sea wasps? Comb jellies (or ctenophores) are rather innocuous if I'm not
mistaken.
Isn't the fierce snake the one that the Crocked Hunter apparently gets
bitten by in a FedEx commercial?
We US-ians have a warped impression of Australians with examples such as Mad
Max (who is actually of US birth I think), Croc Dundee, Outback restaurant,
Foster's beer, and the Crocked Hunter. The BeeGees didn't help the Aussie
memescape very much in the U.S. either.
