Judaism "proselytizes" only to blood children, hence the lower rate of
spreading throughout heterogeneous populations than Christianity. Both fit
the mind-virus model quite well.

Wade:
To say Judaism is non-proselytizing is on-it's-face true, but in fact,
Judaism has very strict and severe steps that it takes to spread and
continue, not the least of which the maternal lineage. Just because jews
don't go door-to-door, don't mean they don't have methods of distribution.
Derek:
Okay, so in that case I revert to my original question - why didn't Judaism
progress to dominance in the Roman world? Either:
a) is does proselytise - in which case why fail to become the religion of
the Empire? (given that it satisfied the memetic criterion of 'one god =
spread fast')
or
b) it doesn't proselytise, in which case quo vadis for 'mind viruses'?
