My understanding is it's because they say that there are only two
birthdays celebrated in the Bible: in the OT we have Pharoah marking his
birthday with a celebratory hanging of the chief baker; and in the NT we
have Herod marking his by beheading John the Baptist. So, they say,
there is no Biblical basis for celebrating our birthdays - quite the
opposite. They don't do Christmas or Easter, either, because of the
tangled memes thing that other people have noted on this list (not that
they'd put it like that!).
