    _Model_ of the conscious mind, which bears little or no resemblance to the underlying 'thing'. Black boxes abound.

    Given that pretty much all other complex bio/ecological systems are built as a 'memeplex-mind' might be (i.e. lots of little things interacting to produce ever-higher-order structures -- pretty much the only things evolution can build), is it so unreasonable?

    Much harder to evolve than the kind of designed layered analytical engine that seems to be favoured by psychoscience imho.
