    Hi Chris,

    It is worth keeping in mind that the abortion debate was won by progressives (pro-choice) and divorce is also now legal and accepted. Government corruption is being rotted out by a series of enquiries, abuses by the Church are similarly being exposed and there have been enormous improvements in the status of women, gays and minorities (like Travellers).

    I agree that there are racial problems due to an irruption of asylum seekers, but these are fairly well handled and a vigorous anti-racism establishment exists.
