    Explain 'transmission' as the sole function of performance.

    And then, please, your explanation of 'performance' somehow being 'just a medium'.

    I'm not sounding like Dace- you're sounding like the soul's apologist, and refusing to see the implications of performance and basic human behavior within spatiotemporal bounds of culture (to more use your terms).
