            I wasn't saying you couldn't do it, only that a) there are
    limitations based upon some things actually existing out there in the world
    (the "gravity" meme, for example, would be shall we say difficult to free
    oneself off), but more importantly b) that de-programming might not be a
    desirable thing in the case of some useful memes (I guess, most obviously,
    those of the scientific method).

            To give another example Brodie wants us to de-programme ouselves of
    the view that guns ahave a causal relationship to violent crime, and also
    has de-programmed himself of both you and I by filtering us out of his
    e-mail (missing out on our erudite and incisive comments:-)).

            What if being myself inhibits your ability to be yourself? What do
    we do then?
