While watching TV last night it struck me that most of the people running
the country of Israel have the physical features of Germans and Russians.
The way they wage war also seems to be based on a European model. Even the
most orthodox Jews with the beards and funny sideburns have European
features and dress in clothes left over from 1920s Berlin, with black
fedoras and overcoats. There seems to be very little of the people who were
driven out of Israel by the Romans left in those who "returned."
