    Yes, I'm sure they do. But the issue is not how culturally usual or unusual it is for a state to allow private gun ownership, but rather the law pertaining to what copnstitutes the reasonable the use of those guns for self-defence. In the UK, both ownership and the legal definition of reasonable force are very tightly clamped down. In Ecuador, ownership is very free (perhaps even freer than in the USA) but reasonable use is very restricted (equally restricted as in the UK).
