Subject: Anthropological models of sociocultural change

I was reading Robert Bee's 1974 introduction to mechanisms and models of
sociocultural change in anthropology, _Process and Pattern_, just recently,
largely because it coincides with my interest in the same topic in
paleontology and cladistic taxonomy. I was struck by the parallel with many of
the issues in modern memetic theory - adaptationism, diffusion
(epidemiological models), the appearance of novelty, typology, etc. Has
anybody done a review of this literature in relation to memetics? I know of
Agner Fog's essay, but is there anything else somebody can point me to?
