Alas no atavistic regression to former stages or states? Still, evolution
via selection can shape an eye, where a change of ecology, such as dwelling
in a cave in absence of selection related to sight can allow an eye to
unravel. There can be gain or loss of character states, though I'm hesistant
to cast this in loaded terms of progression and regression.

Evolution is not blind yet tunnel visioned, its own form of blindness? Are
we talking about horses on tracks here or what? What kind of sight does
evolution have? There can be non-orthogenic directionality as a result of
generations of selection, but is this a lack of blindness? What gives?
