There is no "fraud, graft, hypocrisy and carefully cvrafted illusion on a large scale" in science. That's not my naivety, just realism.

I think that the Cold Fusion supports my view of science. Note the phrase 'short life' in the above. If somebody is talking rubbish in science, it's only a matter of time before they get sorted out. That's one of the great things about science, and why unlike most arenas of human activity, science does display some kind of genuine progress.

Well, fake sciences are so obviously not science, they don't really count as relevant to this discussion. There is also no substantial problem in science with fake papers, dissertations, degrees etc. Anybody who indulges in such nonsense will be rapidly found out.
