I suspect there is a difference between evolutionary psychology and
neural-memetics regarding the role of intention. Evolutionary psychology
allows for the use of 'intentional' psychological states. Neural-memetics
(as does external-memetics) avoids foundational 'intentions', instead
constructing intentional states from the physical substrate. The dualist
or Cartesian will reject construction of intentional (psychological) states
from a physical substrate on metaphysical grounds.
