Generally we take the presence and absence of intention as the
touchstone to distinguish between Lamarckian and Darwinian evolution (I
have intentionally used Lamarckian evolution although we usually use it
    only with Darwinian evolution)

Basically we fall upon Darwin to explain how information can be
created and complexity generated by a Darwinian process of evolution
without recourse to the intentional intervention of a conscious being.
This I believe is the political background of the debate.

But once human consciousness has come on the scene we dont need a
superconsciousness but our very own minds to bring in the intention and
    direction!
