Hiya, everyone.
I was just wondering if anyone's got their hands on a copy of 'Darwinising
Culture' yet?
My pre-ordered copy from Amazon is on its way, but since I'm a cheap-skate,
I won't get it for a few weeks as I get my stuff sent by standard shipping.
(I know in reality, this just means they leave it sitting in the warehouse
for ages, but I can't get away from the image of somebody rowing across the
atlantic with their boat laden with books ordered through amazon.com. If
you pay slightly more it's a sailing boat, more still an ocean liner, and if
you're really rich, Tom Hanks will bring it via FedEx)
When I was browsing for that book, I came across another (which I'm also
still waiting for) by JM Balkin called 'Cultural Software: A Theory of
Ideology', which apparently uses memetics as a central part of a theory of
ideology (its only reviewer gave it 5 stars, so I took a chance). Anyone
seen that at all?
I have a feeling it may be more up my social science street, but we'll see.
Vincent
