On 01/19/01 14:43, Robin Faichney said this-

_I_ never said any such things.

I am saying that the 'mediation of communication' can be considered, (and
there's no reason not to consider it such), a tube that the behavior
    rolls through.

All balls are not created equal, but the tube is the same.

All cultural behavior can be considered, and there ain't no reason not to
consider it such, as a response from an adapted organism to an
    environmental stimulus.

Said environment composed as much of communicative entities as of rocks
and floors and air and clouds.

What is 'evolving' (if evolving culture can be said to happen at all, and
I ain't convinced), is not the internal/external ghost of a meme, but the
ever-changing environment that the behaving entity rolls down.

Said entity being composed as much of communicative properties produced
by biological evolution, (which proceeds mostly, in this species, through
sex), as of the self that this evolution has let escape from "[the]
matter/energy configured in sufficiently complex, dynamic and recursive
patterns to permit it to breach the Godelian barrier and impose meaning."
