Subject: research seminar paper- any recommendations?

      Hiya everyone,

I thought I'd just let you know that I'll be giving a brief paper on
memetics at a forthcoming inter-departmental research seminar between my own
department (the Department of Film & Media Studies) and the Institute for
Media and Communication from the University of Oslo. This is a return visit
following up a similar seminar in Oslo last year (it's a very nice city if
you ever get the chance to go there).

My (as yet unwritten) paper is entitled 'Memetics, Media Studies and
Cultural Policy: Some Initial Observations', and the main aim will simply be
to introduce the main ideas of memetics to a media studies body of scholars.
Their responses will rest no doubt on my capacity to get the core ideas of
memetics across within the allocated 20 minutes (so, vain hope then...).

What I would appreciate is any advice members of the group may have, perhaps
based on previous experiences, regarding introducing memetics to new
audiences (I'll be amazed if any of my prospective audience have heard of it
before, so it will likely be brand new to them).

Obviously, I will report back to the list as to how it went, and what
      responses were received.

      Vincent
