    Because,

    a) Christianity could spread horizontally, whereas Judeaism is only
    passed on vertically.

    b) It had a much better storyline. (Four versions of it, as a matter
    of fact.)

    If your looking for an "improvement" Christianity made over Judaism
    memeticly, this is it; a short martyr story written in the style of
    popular books of the day will always infect the emotions much more
    efficiently than a five volume set of tomes, half of which are filled
    with laws and guidelines.

    (And, of course, it's a hell of a lot easier to convince someone to just
    pray to your God, than to convince them to pray to your God _AND_ let
    you lop a bit of flesh off his penis to boot! ;-)
