Looking this up in my handy dandy dictionary (_Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary_, 10th ed), which probably isn't the best source for historical detail, I notice a variant on "John Hancock" known as "John Henry". Apparently the latter is a confusion with the former, both signifying "an autograph signature". "John Hancock" bears a date of 1903 where "John Henry" bears the date of 1914. Anybody know any specifics on this?

P.S.- Samuel Adams is a fine beer by a brewer and patriot ;-)
