OK, then Webster's wrong. A mystic would certainly doubt the value of any
"intellectual apprehension", but not that of perceptual apprehension.
Indeed, most mystics would probably view perceptual apprehension as
being entirely "central to being" -- thought that's not an entirely
felicitous phrase. (And I think "realities" needs more context than
this to be meaningful.)
I'd guess that's rather an old edition of Webster's -- 1913, by any
chance? -- in which the then current Christian emphasis on transcendence
at the expense of immanence has muddied the waters.
