Here's something for you all to think about,
http://xroads.virginia.edu/~DRBR/geertz.html
This is a fascinating paper, which in the past few days has clarified many of my thoughts about memetics. It is easy to see how Geertz's thoughts on ideologies can be applied to memetic sociological theory. One bit I found of particularl interest was his critique of strain and interest theories. What do you all think, I'm working on my first big paper, it's sure to include lots of citations from this. What do you all think, does this apply as closely as I think it does?
