Any culture, like any organism is due to the specifications of whereby it can survive, live. The permitted differences are so small and the necessity to maintain those is so high, necessary to survive, that organisms and thus IMO thus cultures, need innate automatic regulation- mechanisms within which will guarantee that life- threatening differences will not occur, ar at least will be corrected.

In other words, not only culture shows a remarkable level of in- variability, but cultures also possess mechanisms to keep variation to a minimum_ that's why the many forms under which remerbering your birhday occur, that is why the selfsame meme can be communi- cated by all those different mehods. The invariability of remerbering your birthday must be maintained, that is of importance.

Culture, needs a continious and dynamic process to maintain its own existence, it needs identities which vary not that much, actions or performances which can communicate the selfsame meme will do the trick. That cultures need thereby human beings to perform is above any doubt, culture needs our body and mind like they are to get going. The human being, like the organism it is, is within the specific parameters of its existence the perfect vehicle to transfer what culture relies upon to survive.

If we had, 2 heads, 4 arms and 4 legs, 100 eyes, culture, if ever, will be different. That the type of encoding performance is unimported is false IMO. That people, are more likely to search the web for info about memetics, instead of buying a book about it, is of importance to the distribuion of the memes. Selfsame or not, those on the web will prospere, the others are likely to die out. Oh, the info is the same, but the sound of turning the pages, the smell of the paper, the joy of having the book in your hands,... will be lost !

Is that the price you 're willing to pay !?

    Regards,

    Kenneth
