USA. The date Chuck gave is about 130 years off the mark.
Commercialization occurred almost 50 years prior to the 1830 date.

I agree the introduction of coal, as an industrial and private use
resource, DID have a profound effect on an embryonic industrial revolution.
The discovery of oil was even more profound. This discovery, in 1859,
impacted the world and the industrial revolution in the US as no other
