    Dear memetics list member,

I am writing to you on behalf of the listowners of the memetics list. Although often unrealized, the memetics email list of the journal of memetics is actually hosted by a university and there are limits to its resources. We feel that the number of rather vaguely related posts to memetics is rather high, as well as the absolute number of posts.

Therefore we would like to ask you, along with all posters on the list, to

    1. Try to keep the discussions as close as you can to a scientific approach to memetics. Discussing why Islam is a memeplex and analysing your arguments is fine. Stating your opinion that Islam is bad is not, regardless if you are right or not. Of course there is a lot of grey in between, but you get the point I hope.

    2. It might also be a good idea not to post several times a day on a particular topic but to try to save up your comments to post once a day. If you are discussing 5 topics, five emails are fine. But 5 emails on one topic a day are not.

Obviously we are asking you this to limit the number of emails for resourse reasons. But a very good other reason is that heated discussions about vaguely relevant topics scare many users away. Users that are interested in memetics.

While we do not want to take away anyones right to discuss memetics we do want to add that the number of post of last month is unsustainable. We hope you can help us by trying to post less and more to the point.

    Greetings

    Hans-Cees Speel editor of JOM
