There's a very poisonous bit of anti-Jewish propaganda that has existed for
quite some time, apparently. This is the infamous "blood libel".
From:
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org:80/jsource/gloss.html
(bq) "Blood Libel- An allegation, recurring during the thirteenth through
sixteenth centuries, that Jews were killing Christian children to use their
blood for the ritual of making unleavened bread (matzah). A red mold which
occasionally appeared on the bread started this myth." (eq)
The part about the red mold is stunning in that phenomena like mold growing
on bread could help launch such mentally sporulative assumptions, though the
myth and its consequential anti-Jewish propaganda co-optability are horrid.
This poisonous myth has had a recent incarnation:

How prevalent is this anti-Jewish myth of blood libel in the Arab world?
