Yes, this is the Pravda we all came to know and love during the Cold War - it was always good for a chuckle.

The most interesting memetic comparison, I thought, was between Putin's and Bush's characterizations of the world.

In terms of journalistic style, Pravda is more like the Washington Times than a US tabloid. The latter sells by being garish; Pravda sells by appearing respectable.

    Cheers, Lawry

In a recent post I offered this URL:

    http://english.pravda.ru/main/2002/11/14/39531.html

which is a short blurb on Putin's attitude towards Islamists.

Yet after reading the next three stories, I think I'll re-consider this as a source of reliable information.

    [blushes]

Is this *the* Pravda I've heard of before? I'm not used to reading Russian sources, but the above articles seem a tad far fetched to be taken seriously. I'm not sure how to evaluate the article on Putin given these articles. Grain of salt time I suppose.

If this is *the* Pravda, it might be interesting to read just as a cultural comparison with some of our supermarket check-out line tabloids in the US.
