I, fortunately or unfortunately, am of the generation of the first
Mouseketeers, (and am loathe to admit of further instances), and at one
point I suppose I could have named them all. I think possibly a few out
of the groups in the later incarnations went on to some sort of
celebrity, maybe Britney herself was one, if that was your BS reference.
But, indeed, the child-star phenomenon was more entrenched and
programmed by the later years, and being a Mouseketeer was more seen as
a stepping stone, rather then a destination.
The sad fact usually was that child stars got taken for a long ride,
with little or no recompense.
