    The sharia is subject to continuous examination and interpretation and there are several texts that explain it, none are uncontroverted by other jurists. There are commentaries about previous commentaries about yet previous commentaries. Generally, there is a respect for precedent and juridical authority. I'll try and get a reference or two that would be considered centrist. Domestic criminal law is the focus of the inquiry, I assume. There is a body of Muslim international law, which I know a bit more about, and which has produced a smaller volume of commentary. Shaffe'i's RISALA is probably the best source on this.

    What is this ABZU bibliography? A listing of sources on Persian criminal law?

    I just haven't found the right source yet that lays out the laws and how they are applied. They seem to treat such things differently than we do. The Persian data comes from a library in Chicago, but for some reason, the last time I went back it was closed to me and wanted a sign-in and password.
