I just heard this one (the 'sleep tight' meme) and thought it is a good
example of a meme spread across the english speaking world, obviously it had
its use when originated. the meme spread, the meaning mutated. many know the
meme, how many know/knew its origins?.
#Early mattresses were filled with straw and held up with a rope stretched
across the bed frame. If the rope was tight, sleep was comfortable. Hence
the phrase, "sleep tight."
best,
Tyger
