How do you answer the fourth question? Define 'influence', and how do you
measure it?
Also the third question assumes we have conscious control of the meme, when
I thought part of the point about memes was that memes use us as survival
machines, and thus we pass them on without realising that's what we're
doing. For example, we think we're making some profound comment but it's
really a cliche that says nothing of significance but we say it anyway, and
people keep saying it, sometimes even saying 'I know it's a cliche but...',
and then still saying it anyway.
