    It is important to distinguish between the content of a belief and holding a belief. One important aspect of selection is whether a person adopts a meme. He may still pass it on even if he does not adopt it, but adoption means that he is more likely to pass it on purposefully and more likely to exhibit it in his life, so that it may be picked up.
