    Hi everyone,

Saw this article in yesterday's Independent newspaper about research into long term memory in fruit flies, that highlights the role of creb genes, I believe they are called. The article suggests a mechanism for long term memory storage. It's at:

It also brings to mind a piece in New Scientist recently about by-passing damage to the hippocampus with a computer chip- rats have been used in experiments I believe.

Maybe the "mystery" of memory won't be for much longer. Moreover it might give memeticists with neuroscience knowledge a target for research into the memes in minds idea, and maybe we can settle that part of the dispute.
