Why an atheist would want to belong to a pseudo-militaristic organisation,
indoctrinating kids into recognising the "validity" and "authority" of
authoritarian hierarchies, and people in uniform, in the first place is
(and yes I was a cub when I was very young- couldn't be bothered with badge
collecting though, and never bothered joining the scouts proper; I was also
very briefly in the church choir as a kid also... what is it you Americans
say... "go figure").
