Dear Raymond,

<<
I was thinking more in terms of a C that becomes independantly transmissible but is also transmissible by A and B(or just A to simplify), but separating out C as phenotypic effect before recategorizing it as a meme is important.

It is also confusing. That's one reason why I am leery of the genetic analogy. Memes and genes are so *very* different. If C is a meme, but is also an effect of meme A or of memes A and B, then we have a relationship among those memes that has no parallel among genes.

Best,

Bill
