Don't know whether that's entirely serious or not, so I'll play safe by assuming it is.

Some people use <smile> to indicate that they are kidding. I don't. I usually use <grin>.

Perhaps I should have said "the principles". As in, what might we try to validate? So it's invalid to say, no, that can't be true, it's too difficult to validate.

Bill:

Yes, validation is a methodological, not a theoretical issue (although it is related to operational definitions).

But it is still basic. Freudian theory founders on questions of validation.
